It was estimated that 30 committee chairpersons were needed. The new committees included contracts, insurance, nametags and security. Jørgen proposed a new procedure to shorten the Board meetings, which had been from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm and later. SWEA requested that they replace Den Svenske Damklubben as a member organization. Tom Rosseland began to revise the By-laws and they were approved by June 1998. One major change was for the Officers to be elected for two years and on a staggered basis.
Mary Lou Seltzer and Ritva Porter chaired the committee to participate in the Festival of Trees from Dec. 4 to Dec. 15. The Cobb Civic Center added a charge for electricity use and it was decided to add $10 to the fees for exhibitors who require electricity.
Denmark was the featured country and it was decided to use mostly Danish entertainers. The cost of entertainers from Denmark was a concern. The website was started and was functioning by April 1998. A budget was based on $68,850 income and 5000 visitors.
The price of the food platter was increased to $4.00 and the business card size ad was increased to $50.00. An inventory was completed in April 1998. The database for mailing notification cards was 1200. Ads were placed in the Atlanta Journal for $1200, Creative Loafing for $852 and Marietta Daily Journal for $810.
The fiscal year was kept at Oct. 1 to Sept. 30. The tax year was the calendar year. Discussions continued on a potential scholarship. All the exhibitor booths were sold.
