Ed Bender’s advice was sought regarding the investment of the treasury funds and it was decided to move some of the funds from CDs to stock funds.

Only six members attended the October Board meeting. Getting volunteers had become a major consideration. Relocating the Festival to a small town outside the metro Atlanta area was proposed. A parade in Marietta for publicity was mentioned. The Country Store was relocated to the west side of the stage, the Bakery was relocated downstairs on the south end, the raffle was on the east side of the stage and hotdogs and beverages were on the south side of the upper level. All 5 food houses were located on the east side of the lower level.

Trademark protection for the Festival logos was proposed at a cost of $500 - $700 each. There was discussion about the non-profit aspect of the Festival in the eyes of the IRS. Tom Rosseland was investigating the insurance coverage during the Festival. Liquor liability insurance costing $624 was voted down by the Board.

Negotiations were begun with a 30 member Danish band to entertain, with the intent to provide private hosting for them during their stay in the Atlanta area. The strings of flags and the “wedding crowns” were introduced for decorations, under Marjatta Söderlund's direction. Grids were purchased to replace the boards for the Cultural room exhibits.

Most of the exhibitor booths were sold early and a few late. Sponsors, raffle prizes and program book ads were late, just as they had been in previous years. The name tags for the volunteers were a big success.

The first scholarship in honor of Jeffrey Scott Linden in the amount of $2500 was awarded to Morten Jensen, a Danish student at Georgia Tech/Emory University. The Officers agreed that the funds for the scholarship would come from the investment money. Somehow, this did not happen and the funds came from income of the specific year.

Attendance was 2360 and the profit was very good. The program book continued to improve and it was 28 pages.

Bob Reed was the MC on Sat. and Eric Tegner on Sun. The returning entertainment included:

Scandinavian Folk Dancers of Raleigh
Viking Age Club Village
Children from the Swedish School of Atlanta
Scandinavian Festival Choir

The new entertainment was:

Baldur Brass Band from Denmark
Lela Band from Atlanta
Norwegian national costume show

The post-festival party was held on June 13 at the Lindens.
